The CID Assassin Kobmaster Surf Fishing Rod has been trusted for years along the South African coastline. Originally designed for casting lures, it performs best with lures in the 2oz to 3oz range, although it carries a lure rating of 1oz to 4oz. Thanks to the Gulf Coast’s lighter currents, this rod is also an excellent choice for set rig fishing, giving anglers the casting distance needed to reach productive water with 2oz to 3oz sinkers.

Panhandle Salt has been using this style of rod for guided trips and personal fishing since early 2024, moving away from the traditional surf rods that have long dominated the area. Whether you are throwing lures for jacks and Spanish mackerel or targeting pompano with set rigs, the Kobmaster is a versatile option for Gulf Coast anglers. Available in 11' and 12' models. The 11' pairs well with a 4000 series reel, while the 12' is best matched with a 5000 series reel. For most applications, we recommend 15 to 20 lb Land Line Braid.
